Planks A Lot.

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
This is one of the polishes that I hauled last week. I actually got 2 more when I was getting hair color this last Thursday. I picked up OPI Off With Her Red ($2.83) and Essie Matte About You ($5). I Love CosmoProf and SalonCentric!!! The prices are so much easier on your pocket. I got to go out and get the prize for my 100 Follower Giveaway tomorrow. Before you ask, yes my nails are false here, Cosmetology school is hard on your natural nails, so I decided that I would get acrylics just for a little.

Planks A Lot came out with the Pirates Of The Caribbean collection last Spring. It is a medium dusty purple that is more on the blue side. It is opaque in two coats, no streaks. This polish can be found in some of the Ulta's in the clearance sections for around $5. You may even be able to find it at a beauty supply store in the clearance.

I also have Mermaids Tears, I might do a post about that one later this week.

Anyway I hope your week has been great. I think I am going to get back to my Pink Wednesdays and try to post more. It is hard since I am doing stuff constantly.

Enjoy yourself

Pastel Rainbow. Tutorial

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Sorry I have been a little busy around here lately.

Today I decided to actually do something different. I am wearing a mani that my friend did on her youtube.

Step one cut a sponge it has to be really hole-y, kind of like a painters sponge. You can find them at WalMart in the craft section or in Michael's in the painting section.

Then paint lines of color on the sponge. You can choose what colors you do.

Next you want to lightly press the sponge on to a paper, just to get the excess off.

Then place the sponge on your nail and press lightly. You can probably get away doing this to two nails and then you'll have to go back to step 2.

Repeat step 2 through 4 on each nail, just too make sure that it is on there well.

I kind of blended the lines a little bit by painting a layer of China Glaze's Fairy Dust.

I find that if you start out with a white base for lighter colors and a similar color if you are going to do darker colors. I used Yum Gum by Color Club, Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen, You Belong To Me by Essence, and Lav-ish by Ulta.

You can visit PlasmaSpeedo's Page on Facebook or her youtube! She is a really amazing person and has a really quirky personality.

Enjoy yourself

Salon Express Stamping Review

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I have an exciting review for you today. I recently purchased the Salon Express Nail Art Stamping Kit at Sally Beauty Supply. The kit only cost $10 which is great for the stamper, scraper, holder and 5 plates. Each plate has 6/7 images on the plate.

First off I must say that this is very messy. I seriously went through about 5 or 6 cotton balls, I know I should use lint free stuff but at the moment I don't have them. I don't like the idea of having messy things because I hate how it looks. Your hands and work area will look like you split polish a little. This set comes with the holder for the plates while scraping but I personally don't think you need it. A piece of paper will work just as well.

The scraper is a very thin metal strip. I actually don't like metal scrapers but I find they work better than a plastic scraper or a credit card. Also wiping this off after each stamping is necessary because if not the scraper doesn't work as well and will smudge polish all over the image plate and the image will not come out the way you want it.

As for the plates like I said above there are 5 plates with 6/7 designs on each, 34 images in all. In my kit there was 4 image plates with simple and small images and 1 full nail image designs. On some of the plates there is some discoloration in the engraved image, sometimes this means the image didn't get engraved enough in certain areas or too much in another area.

SE18 includes a spiral heart design, a palm tree, an apple, a star flower design, a scrolled heart, a very cute flower, and a basic monarch butterfly. There was no problem stamping any of these images. I also stamped the last image with two different colors to show how you can design these images more.

SE19 includes a basic dragonfly, a sun type flower, two small flowers, another choppy flower like SE18, another flower, a seahorse, and two butterflies flying together. As you can see there was a problem with dragonfly so I tried stamping it again. I should have just kept these all black with the paper I used.

SE20 includes a swirly sun type design, a star type design, bling highlight type things, a snowflake type flower kind of reminds me of dandelions, a single rose, a intricate butterfly, and hearts with XOXO which I think I have seen on Bundle Monster and Konad. As you can see there was a problem with the first image stamping.

SE21 includes a bamboo type leafy flower, a few hearts, a cute turtle, a playful dragonfly, a cute flower, a moon and a few stars, and a double heart. The first image is a little iffy and the second image is messed up because of me. Other than that there was no problems.

SE22 includes full designs of what looks like zebra print, small intricate flowers, larger and smaller stars, polka dots, a burst type design, and checkerboards. The problems here were all my fault because this is actually a good plate.

My problems with the plates as of right now. The full image plates are actually smaller than the newer Bundle Monster or Konad, I could imagine that they are about as big as the first Bundle Monster. Then the smaller designs are actually really big compared to the "larger" images. I'm not going to complain about the smaller "larger" designs because my nail beds are very narrow and short, so they fit perfectly with the exception of my thumb it barely works. I also notice these designs have a lot of flowers, butterflies, and hearts.
Compared to Bundle Monster 206 (the only other plate I own)

These kits can be found at variously locations, I know CVS, Rite Aid, and Sally's Beauty Supply.Be aware the kit you get may be different from mine though. As you can see mine pick up at SE18 which means there are 17 before mine. I am not sure if  there are any above mine.
I know I want SE11 which is a Konad dupe with the Zebra, Lace, and Leopard. There is SE12 with Plaid and Dots. I also want SE02 with the interesting Konad french tip design and butterfly.

For people new to stamping.
Each set is engraved with a design and you apply nail polish into the grooves and take a scraper to remove the excess nail polish that is on the surface of the plate. Taking the stamper you push the rubber part over the image and take it and roll it over your nail. Practice makes perfect. Here is a friend of mine trying Konad for the first time.

Tips for people who are new to stamping.

  1. The thicker the polish the better. I have been using cream polishes although some shimmers work. My preferred choice right now is LA Colors Art Deco, they are the polishes with the striping brushes built into them.
  2. Make sure you take the blue film off of the front of the plate, you can leave the blue on the back of the plate if you want, it isn't going to hurt it to be there. If not you won't be able to scrape or put polish into the engravings. You will be able to feel the lines of the design.
  3. Make sure you are working on a surface that is protected. I suggest paper or paper towels. I used mine on my glass desk so it didn't really matter, clean up was a breeze. If you don't care about the surface more power to you. LOL
  4. Roll the stamper with the image over your nails, don't just lay it there. This makes it so the design gets on the nail completely. Just laying it there will only get the image on the round part of your nail unless you push the hardest you can but even then it won't get all of it.
  5. Make sure you work quickly or the polish will dry on the stamper and will not transfer onto your nails.
  6. Always clean all of your equipment. Make sure you have your nail polish remover on hand and something to clean with (cotton ball, cotton round, etc...) At first it will take a bit to clean up but you will get better.
  7. Practice makes perfect. Don't give up. If at first you don't get the desired look just keep trying because it does take some practice. I have been playing with mine since Tuesday and still have some problems. But I can tell you this, my phone and iPOD both have stamps all over them. (If you are under 18 I would ask your parents for permission before stamping on a phone, etc... you don't want them to get mad.)
  8. File down the stamper a tad because this will pick up the image just a little better than if it was smooth.
Nevermind the crappy cellphone.

Overall I recommend this kit to anybody who wants to try stamping or someone who can't achieve nail art by the brush. I love this type of stuff and I plan on purchasing the Bundle Monster and some from Born Pretty Store.

Here I am wearing Ulta's Lav-ish which is a greyish lavender color. Then over that I have SE18's Butterfly stamped in LA Colors Art Deco in Black. From SE21 I have the Dragonfly stamped in LA Colors Art Deco in Silver. I topped it with Seche Vite and went on with my day. I actually wore this until last night when I broke my middle finger nail, I didn't break it all off but there is little to nothing there. I will still stamp but getting those "small" designs on my fingers is going to be a little harder.

Funny story time... I have been thinking about getting Bundle Monster and Konad for some time but have never gotten around to it. I have been talking to my boyfriend about it lately, and when I said Konad he started laughing. Now every time we are around someone he says Konad, just so i have to go into a long discussion about nail art stamping.

Enjoy yourself

31 Day Challenge Day 20

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Phew today in particular I had problems with nail art... Anyone ever have fail days? I seriously redid like 12 nails, haha no seriously. I hated how some of them came out. Water Marbling is such a pain to do sometimes, even when you know how to do it right and everything. The colors can get muddled together, you can totally miss the design, and sometimes you just get something that turns out looking like crap. I think everyone has those types of days, well today was mine.

I used Finger Paints Lavender Highlight, China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le, and Color Club Who Are You Wearing? I topped it with China Glazes Fairy Dust, does anyone else have a problem with CHG FD getting too thick? I know I have to use like 10 drops of thinner to get the polish back to its original smoothness.

I hope you enjoyed, I know I liked the final look of it. Very fall-esk.

Enjoy yourself

31 Day Challenge Day 19

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I changed my mind this is by far my favorite post out of this challenge. I have never tried Galaxy nails before today and I am going to tell you that I absolutely love it. I like how it just comes together. I actually got a lot of compliments today on my nails, people couldn't believe that I actually did this myself.

I used a CRAP ton of nail polishes for this.

Base color Downtown Diva by Ulta topped with Sally Hansens Pale Pink Opal which gave it a blue pink duochrome.
Then I sponged You Belong To Me by Essence as my nebula, then on the edges I used Orly's Galaxy Girl.
I used LA Colors Art Deco in white for the stars. Then for my shooting star I used Sally Hansen's Nail Prisms in Diamond which is holographic so it added something different to the table.

That's it. I hope you liked it if you did show your support by following me :)

31 Day Challenge Day 12

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I was trying to go for a modern type of stripes with very earthy and fall colors for today. I think I nailed it. It kind of reminds me of a scarf or something. Very modern and girly but kind of sophisticated. HAHA what a weird way of talking about nails.

I used several polishes for today.
My base is Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window By OPI
Darker purple stripes are Honk If You Love OPI By OPI
Lighter purple stripes are Lavender Highlight By Finger Paints
Yellow is a Art Deco by LA Colors which is just called Yellow.

I am really liking how this came out maybe I should do some plaid or Burberry nails.

I hope you liked it, thanks for following and reading.

31 Day Challenge Day 10

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Today is Gradient Day lol, I am pretty sure you saw my Halloween post, if not go check it out. I did a lime green gradient so this day was no challenge for me having past experience.

I did something really simple, 3 polishes was all this baby took.

I started out with China Glaze's GO GO Pink which I hauled like a week and a half ago. It is just a creamy pale pink, almost bubble gum pink. I basically got this for free with a set I purchased.

Then I added some of Finger Paints Pretty As A Portrait which is a lilac purple color. I love this purple.

Finally I sponged on some OPI Honk If You Love OPI which is a darker version of PAAP.

In all I think I like this. I hope you do too.

Enjoy yourself

31 Day Challenge Day 9

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,

This is probably the worst thing I have ever seen... I just said screw it and I took the picture of the work that I did. I worked for over two hours on today's nails which I HATE!
It is a good design but it looks like hell. I did two colors on each of my nails, in sort of a color blocking style. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple (violet).

All of the colors I used were LA Colors Art Deco, these things can be found at the dollar store. I would never spend more than $1 on them unless it was a color that I have never seen before, which there are colors that you can't get at the dollar store.

Now that I am a little bit frustrated with the design I am going to take this off and prep my nails for tomorrow. Ohh today is grooming day.

31 Day Challenge Day 6

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Only a few days left until I am into the patterns, I can't wait. I think this is a really fun challenge thus far. I might try version two here very soon.

Today I am wearing a single color but I did a little design to add some spice. I am wearing Finger Paints Lavender Highlight. I added little lines of black acrylic paint. Nothing too intense just something I added. See I told you I am totally ready to be in the design part of this challenge.

I hope you like, I know I did.

Halloween Challenge Friday

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
4 Days to go. Today I did a Freaky House. A lot of people have done this one but mine is hand painted also a little bit of a fail, HAHA!
I used Finger Paints Pretty As A Portrait and OPI Honk If You Love OPI. Black acrylic paint and Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow for the windows.

Pretty boring if you ask me. LOL.

Halloween Challenge Sunday

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Skeleton Sunday, you know how hard it is for me to come up with names for the certain days, Tuesday and Thursday next week still don't have names, so I don't know what I am going to do those days. We will find out soon huh?

Skeletons are great for Halloween. I didn't do a complete skeleton. Just the skull and some little bones. I really love how this turned out. I think I will be doing more of these. Sadly we went out to eat and I broke my left ring fingernail half way off so I am down to numbs like my natural length no visible nail lines no nothing. Shorties, ugh I hate them this short and the hang nails I get when they are this short.

I used OPI Honk If You Love OPI and white and black acrylic paints.

Did you like this?

Enjoy yourself

30 Untrieds Day 30!!!!

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I am glad to say it is over and that I can give my nails a break for a day or so. Most likely won't, haha. I want to say thank you for sticking with me while I did this because I really needed to. I wanted to do a closing post and I may still do that but I am not sure yet. If I do I will be sure to add polishes that I still need to try out. Thank you to everyone who has and will comment on my posts it means everything. Now on to today's polish.

Orly's Galaxy Girl is a purple with bright blue glitters. Very similar to Halley's Comet. This is from the Cosmic FX collection which you can still find at Ulta or at least mine and mine is fairly new. This polish goes for $10 but if you took a $3.50 coupon into Ulta you could get it for $6.50 which is pretty good. You can also find it online. I actually won mine <3.

LA Splash Crackle'D in Broken Heart'd is very bright cream pink crackle. Very similar to China Glaze's Crackle in Broken Hearted. Haha same name. This polish was purchased from my Fred Meyer for around $5. I am sure you can still find it somewhere but my Fred Meyer is sold out. I only added this to my tips to show the true beauty of Galaxy Girl.

I plan on getting more crackles but I am not sure if I like them. It will be like in the 90's were they stopped selling after awhile. Maybe my Fred Meyer will have them on sale because I still see a couple of different brands of crackle.

Enjoy yourself

30 Untrieds Day 26

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Today was a 3 polish type of day... We will see if I get through all of my untrieds.  If not I will post a list of polish I haven't tried yet on my closing of 30 Untrieds which I plan on posting on the 30th of this month... 4 more days.

OPI's A-Taupe The Space Needle is a brown grey-ish color. Goes on opaque, at least for me. It also has those veins that the other OPI's that I have recently been sent. I don't know if it is because they are directly from the company or if their formula is different compared to the other polishes I have. It doesn't effect how the nail polish goes on just looks odd.

OPI Honk If You Love OPI is an almost eggplant purple. I had to apply two coats on my ring finger. I chose this color because it is in the same family as ATSN.  Again same as the other one.

You can find those two nail polishes in various locations that sells OPI, for around $8.50 but can some times be found on sale.

Lastly is Wet N' Wild's Tangled in My Web which is a black glitter. Very sparse I may say, you really have to layer it on to get the glitter on. Or just pat the side of the brush on your nail. This polish is apart of their On The Prowl Collection which is out for Halloween. Can be found at multiple drugstores for around $2.

Sorry for being so late tonight.... I hate posting later. I have been napping all day because I think I am coming down with a cold.

Enjoy yourself

Small Haul

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,

Yesterday when shopping for food, I ran across the On The Prowl collection from Wet N' Wild. I begged my boyfriend for $10, which it didn't even come to :P LOL. I got 6 nail polishes, 4 from the On The Prowl collection and 2 from the Wicked Sweet collection.
I got
-Correction Tape
-Tangled in My Web
-Behind Closed Doors
-Cougar Attack
-Raspberry Rush
-Gimme a Grape Big Kiss

I love the new glitters from Wet N' Wild, they are great. Too bad they are limited edition, GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN!!! I picked mine up from Fred Meyers at 2 for $3.

Correction Tape is similar to Party Of Five Glitters, only CT has pink, blue, silver and black hex, square, and circular glitters, whereas POFG is red, pink, green, and silver glitters.

Tangled In My Web is a clear based polish with black hex glitters.

Behind Closed Doors is a black based polish with bright red glitter. Small round glitter and larger hex.

Cougar Attack is a brown based polish jam packed with orange glitter.

The Wicked Sweet collection was released in the summer and since then my Fred Meyer's had decided to mark the prices down to $1.59 which is an amazing $7.41 mark down. I will surely be going back for more. I have a stash at Fred Meyers hidden with nail polish just for me LOL, no one will ever know well not unless you live near me... Shh.

Raspberry Rush is a pink-y magenta. Cream finish of course. Scented like raspberries.

Gimme a Grape Big Kiss is a purple, more of a neon. Cream again. Scented like you guessed it... grape.

I would like to get more Halloween nail colors especially from Sally's... That would make my day. I need a job to be able to do that first.

BE sure to check Fred Meyers for the On The Prowl collection they also have the cute little pumpkins and other Wet N' Wild limited edition products. Like I have said in the past, they mark the products down tremendously.

Nail Mail

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I love Nail Mail I truly do. I was woken up to my boyfriends dog barking and surly enough there was something waiting for me on my porch. I had entered a contest a while back from Musings from Manhattan.
She was giving away the OPI Touring America Set, it was bunched in two sets of 6. I was lucky enough to win prize pack two.

-Honk If You Love OPI
-I Eat Mainly Lobster
-My Address Is Hollywood
-A-Taupe The Space Needle
-Uh-oh Roll Down The Window
-French Quarter For Your Thoughts.

I am so grateful for these new nail polishes. Making my OPI collection grow. These are great for the Fall and Winter.
Again thank you Danielle for having such a wonderful giveaway.

The original post was here, The giveaway winners where here, and finally Musings From Manhattans website. I absolutely love all the posts she has. She is great at reviewing because she is short and to the point <3.

30 Untrieds Day 17

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Today I am wearing Ulta's Downtown Diva which is a dark almost black, purple. My boyfriends sister even said "Ew you are wearing black", She doesn't like black. This was opaque in one thick coat, I did two just to make sure though. This polish is a pain the butt to clean around the cuticles, I swear I used 3 pointed q-tips to clean around them and that was one hand.  This dried within five minutes and that is without a top coat, I find wearing a top coat is hard when doing these untrieds because it uses up a lot of top coat. I find that the formula is similar to OPI or China Glaze.

I am not one to wear really dark polishes on my fingers, toes maybe. I don't like how small it makes my finger nails look. I really don't like taking the polish off either because it will either stain my nails, go into my cuticles, or get all over my skin and make my skin sticky, dirty, or even stained. I just hate all aspects of darker nail polish.

My Ulta had recently just opened and as part of their free gifts that they do every once in awhile this was apart of it. I am surprised because these polishes retail for $7.50 at any Ulta location and online. So to get it free was very nice. I don't like the small little brush I prefer OPI's or Sally Hansens InstaDri. The bottle is very sleek/ modern looking, professional if you will, The bottles "handle" is rubberized which makes it easier for you to hold. It reminds me of a NARS or Claires/Icing bottle. Which reminds me their is a Claires right next to my Ulta so I maybe stopping in there someday when the polish fund is back up.

Top 10 Picks For Fall.

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
With my most worn summer nail polishes out the way I figured that I would predict what nail polishes that I would most reach for this fall. I will do an actual post about what ones I did chose the most when fall is coming to an end.
These are in no particular order, some I have tried and some I haven't.

Left
Pinkie- Eel Skin by Sally Hansen
Ring- GR8 by China Glaze
Middle- Savage by Sinful Colors
Index- Forever Young by Essie
Thumb- Don't Mess With OPI by OPI

Right
Thumb- Sexy in the City by China Glaze
Index- Skyscraper by China Glaze
Middle- Beetle by Hard Candy
Ring- Facets of Fuchsia by Revlon
Pinkie- Party of Five Glitters by Wet N' Wild

This is what I predict I could totally be wrong but that is why I am going to post at the end of fall and tell you what polishes where grabbed up the most. It may or may not be the same amount of polishes listed above or it may even be more.

30 Untrieds Day 4

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Happy Sunday all, I hope all is good. I woke up far too early this morning and will probably be taking a nap or sleeping all day ( this is normal for me). I am actually that I have been awake this early for the last week.
Today we have something really easy and kind of cute. Simple and cute, that is how I like em'.
This polish that was picked for today is a very light dusty lilac color. It is a very light color. It is a cream which is my favorite type of polish followed by holographic, duochrome, multichrome, and then glitter.
Sadly this color from Color Club doesn't have a name and my facebook is blocking me today for some reason it is telling me that the site is undergoing site problems but my friend is able to get on hers just fine. I will figure it out soon.

Sorry for the messy application, I was in a hurry this morning and I had to add like 3 coats for it to be completely opaque.

Enjoy yourself

Haul and New Hair

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I really should save all the new polishes I buy or get sent for one big haul like every two weeks out of the month or so. I really don't like posting a million hauls but I don't ever think that I will buy more and then 12 or so more polishes pop into my hands, I have a problem.
Today I made a trip to Ross to see what kind of Color Club sets they have because I have heard they carry the sets there for fairly cheap. I ended picking up 4 mini Color Club polishes sadly they don't have names and I can't find the packaging, I think my boyfriend accidently threw away the package SIGH. Anyway their is a dark purply grey color that has purple, blue, and silver sparkles, Then there is a plain silver color, a very nude pink color,  then a dusty light lilac color. I was searching for more when I ran across one single Essie called Forever Young which is a bright red, I have so many reds it isn't even funny but I can use the others for frankens now.
Then I went to Walgreens because I knew they were having a sale on their Wet N' Wild nail polishes (or anything else that is originally $1.99). While I was there I picked up Party of Five Glitters, Blue Wants To Be A Millionaire, and FuchsiaRama. Then I was browsing their Sinful Colors display to see if they had any of the Adventure Island  Collection, sadly no they didn't but I may check the other Walgreens by my house. I would be really mad if I can't get these colors.  I did pick up Nirvana, Savage, and Soul Mate.
Sometime last week I picked up John Frieda's Foam Hair Dye in a deep red color and I took it to my sisters house and she dyed my hair for me. Let me say that foam hair dye is really weird and it claims not to be patchy but it is. I have to dye my hair again.

I think September is going to be a month of 30 Untried Nail Polishes, maybe even more. Look for that on Thursday

Enjoy yourself
