Mermaid Dreams (NOTD).

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Happy Monday everyone. I hope yours was good. I actually went in for Orientation today for Cosmetology school. Yay GO ME! I am going to add a picture of my makeup as well.

Today I decided to go blue. I am wearing Sinful Colors Savage and Revlon's Blue Mosaic. It added like a light blue/turquoise colored glitter to the green of Savage.

As for my makeup I am just wearing Urban Decays Sidecar with Smog in the crease. Black liquid eyeliner and mascara.

Well I start school tomorrow so I am not sure how my schedule will pan out. My 100 Follower giveaway will be posted within the next two weeks. I am not sure I will be able to do another giveaway until 300 or 500 because I am completely broke. But good things happen to people all the time so we will see how things end up.

Enjoy yourself

Pink Wednesday.

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Guess who is already thinking about Valentines Day? This girl right here :) I have never been one for Valentines Day but for some reason I am just in that type of mood lately. Hey what can I say people change.

Today I am just wearing a gradient nail consisting of China Glaze's Go Go Pink, Color Club's Yum Gum, Orly's Basket Case, and OPI's Teenage Dream. Then I stamped with plate SE21  with the two heart designs.I really need to invest on getting Teenage Dream in a bigger bottle because it is such a pretty color.

Anyway that is about it. I'm kind of nervous today because I only have 5 more days until school starts.

Enjoy yourself

Pastel Rainbow. Tutorial

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Sorry I have been a little busy around here lately.

Today I decided to actually do something different. I am wearing a mani that my friend did on her youtube.

Step one cut a sponge it has to be really hole-y, kind of like a painters sponge. You can find them at WalMart in the craft section or in Michael's in the painting section.

Then paint lines of color on the sponge. You can choose what colors you do.

Next you want to lightly press the sponge on to a paper, just to get the excess off.

Then place the sponge on your nail and press lightly. You can probably get away doing this to two nails and then you'll have to go back to step 2.

Repeat step 2 through 4 on each nail, just too make sure that it is on there well.

I kind of blended the lines a little bit by painting a layer of China Glaze's Fairy Dust.

I find that if you start out with a white base for lighter colors and a similar color if you are going to do darker colors. I used Yum Gum by Color Club, Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen, You Belong To Me by Essence, and Lav-ish by Ulta.

You can visit PlasmaSpeedo's Page on Facebook or her youtube! She is a really amazing person and has a really quirky personality.

In The Moment... Nails.

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Very boring day here at my house. I should be applying for scholarships right now but I really can't think. I am sort of tired because there isn't anything to do here.

I am going to be short and sweet today. I am wearing Sinful Colors Snow Me White with Wet N' Wilds Tangled In My Web from the On The Prowl Collection. It really reminds me of a Cruella Deville look, lol.

Well that is it. If you haven't entered my GIVEAWAY please be sure to. :)

Holicure #6 Snowmen

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Another long day for me here. I was going to do a mix and match but I am going to opt out and just do this Holiday Manicure. Today I have Snowmen on my nails.... Well I have changed it for school purposes. I have Finger Paints Scenery Greenery with Finger Paints Flashy over it.

For the base I am using Essence Color and Go in You Belong To Me. Then I used white acrylic paint. to make the snowmen, ground, and snow, I also used black acrylic paint for the arms, buttons, and top hat.

Well that is it. I am going to be doing an important post on Tuesday and then  all of the promised posts.

Enjoy yourself

Holicure #5 Christmas Trees

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Ohhhh so close to Christmas I have a feeling this year is going to be great for me. Today is about Christmas Trees. I actually don't like how the trees came out but I am keeping with it. I am going to change it for a MIX and MATCH later today.

I did a blue background China Glazes Secret Peri-Wink-Le and then I used white acrylic paint. For the trees I used OPI's Don't Mess With OPI and then for the highlights of the trees I used OPI's Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window. I was going to add little decorations but I thought that would be far too much.

Well that is it. I am glad to be sitting here and blogging to you right now :) Sorry for my nasty cuticles the winter is doing only but bad things for me today :(

Holicure #4 Poinsettia Flowers

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I think that a Poinsettia flower is so pretty, they are very unique. I actually wanted to test out the stamping plates some more. The flowers are scattered through out the nails.

I painted my nails OPI's Bling Dynasty, then I stamped the flowers from SE21. I used LA Colors Art Deco in Red Glitters for the stamps.

I am so excited for Christmas this year. I actually am opening all of my gifts from my boyfriends family on Christmas Eve because I am going to my sisters for the rest of Christmas Eve and Christmas day and probably won't be back until the day after. I plan on doing a Christmas Haul the day or so after... We will see won't we?

Well I hope you all are having an amazing time this Holiday Season <3

Holicure #3 Christmas Lights

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
4 more Holicures left until I am done. I am even going to blog on Christmas!! Today I figured I would do Christmas Lights because well they are really common. I did a different twist to them.

I used OPI's Bling Dynasty for the french tips and black acrylic paints for the cord. I used LA Colors Art Deco in Red Glitter and Mint Green for the lights.

Well that is pretty much it. I plan on posting my giveaway within the next week or two. So look for that.

Holicure #2 Snowflakes

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Today is the second day for the Holiday Manicures. Today's is strictly acrylic paint. I have a thing for acrylic paint and nail art. It makes it easier for me to do nail art for some reason. Today I have Snowflakes on a blue and white background.

I don't really have much to say today but look out for a haul post that I am going to do today!!! I spent entirely too much and I got a giveaway prize that I am sure anyone would enjoy. <3

Holicure #1 Candy Canes

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,

I am going to be doing a week full of Holiday Manicures. Each day will be a different design. I wanted to do 12 Days Of Christmas but obviously that didn't go as planned. One week, seven days! I can do this, if I did a whole month of Untrieds this should be easy peasy.

Today is Candy Canes. Now I didn't do the typical Candy Canes, these are very different.

I started out with a dark base and then I out lined a crook for the cane and then colored it all white. Then I added red stripes all up and down. It kind of looked like a french tip design when I first started and then I went up one side more than the other.

I used Orly's Rock Solid from the Mineral FX collection which I might do a post on after the Holidays but then it will be a little behind on the collections, who cares though? Then I used white acrylic paint for the crook. For the red stripes I used LA Colors Art Deco in Red Glitters.

Well that is it. Tomorrows post will be snowflake nails so look forward to that.
Thank you all for following and commenting. 50 Follower Giveaway should be up before the end of this year. YAY 2012!!!!

Enjoy yourself

Snowful Pink Wednesday.

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I was actually stumped on what to do for this Pink Wednesday, which is odd for me.

I did a pink base and stamped a design in two different colors, silver and white. I know the stamp I used actually isn't a snowflake design but on my short nails it actually give off the impression of a snowflake.

For the base color I used OPI's My Address is Hollywood. Then I used Salon Express plate number SE20 and the image with the three little stars or whatever they are. I used LA Colors Art Deco in Silver and White.

What I had on yesterday was a gradient made of blues and it actually stained my nails and skin.

Anyway that is it for today. Psst. some little birdie told me that I am 3 followers away from the big 50 which means I will be doing a giveaway... I will post it after Christmas <3 if I get there before Christmas.

Enjoy yourself

Penguinish Pink Wednesday :)

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I saw a post from The Big Bad Wolf post on Penquins, I knew I had to do this design. She did hers on all of her nails and I thought this is Pink Wednesday so I had to incorporate pink somehow.

A while back I did a post about the Revlon Glitters. Starry ink is a lilac toned pink with small round and large hex silver glitter. For my nails I made a bling finger out of my penguin and then the other nails got two coats of Starry Pink. At first I wanted to stamp on this nail polish but I actually have been wearing this polish since yesterday and just added the penguin today, when I tried stamping yesterday it totally ruined the nail polish. It took this nail polish FOREVER to dry even with a top coat. So I just left it alone.

For the accent nail I painted the nail with the Starry Pink yesterday but I painted black acrylic paint over it. Then I added an egg shaped circle in white on the bottom of my nail and then with the end of a brush I dotted two circles above the egg shape. Then in the center of that I added two smaller black dots. Finishing up I added three small yellow triangles, one under the eyes and two at the base of the egg shape. I made a drawing below to show you how to do it step by step.
Haha don't make fun of my drawing.

Anyway that is about it. I can't wait until after Christmas to show you a gift that I got yesterday that I am totally excited for. It is going to make blogging and nail art/ anything related sooooo much easier. Expect a new collection post in about a month or two since I am doing a new collection post every 6 months.

Just expect that the day after Christmas.... Not to brag or anything.

Ohhhh 10 more followers until 50 followers.I think I am going to try to do a 50 Follower Giveaway but I am not sure. What would you like to see in a giveaway I already have 2 items.

Enjoy yourself

Salon Express Stamping Review

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I have an exciting review for you today. I recently purchased the Salon Express Nail Art Stamping Kit at Sally Beauty Supply. The kit only cost $10 which is great for the stamper, scraper, holder and 5 plates. Each plate has 6/7 images on the plate.

First off I must say that this is very messy. I seriously went through about 5 or 6 cotton balls, I know I should use lint free stuff but at the moment I don't have them. I don't like the idea of having messy things because I hate how it looks. Your hands and work area will look like you split polish a little. This set comes with the holder for the plates while scraping but I personally don't think you need it. A piece of paper will work just as well.

The scraper is a very thin metal strip. I actually don't like metal scrapers but I find they work better than a plastic scraper or a credit card. Also wiping this off after each stamping is necessary because if not the scraper doesn't work as well and will smudge polish all over the image plate and the image will not come out the way you want it.

As for the plates like I said above there are 5 plates with 6/7 designs on each, 34 images in all. In my kit there was 4 image plates with simple and small images and 1 full nail image designs. On some of the plates there is some discoloration in the engraved image, sometimes this means the image didn't get engraved enough in certain areas or too much in another area.

SE18 includes a spiral heart design, a palm tree, an apple, a star flower design, a scrolled heart, a very cute flower, and a basic monarch butterfly. There was no problem stamping any of these images. I also stamped the last image with two different colors to show how you can design these images more.

SE19 includes a basic dragonfly, a sun type flower, two small flowers, another choppy flower like SE18, another flower, a seahorse, and two butterflies flying together. As you can see there was a problem with dragonfly so I tried stamping it again. I should have just kept these all black with the paper I used.

SE20 includes a swirly sun type design, a star type design, bling highlight type things, a snowflake type flower kind of reminds me of dandelions, a single rose, a intricate butterfly, and hearts with XOXO which I think I have seen on Bundle Monster and Konad. As you can see there was a problem with the first image stamping.

SE21 includes a bamboo type leafy flower, a few hearts, a cute turtle, a playful dragonfly, a cute flower, a moon and a few stars, and a double heart. The first image is a little iffy and the second image is messed up because of me. Other than that there was no problems.

SE22 includes full designs of what looks like zebra print, small intricate flowers, larger and smaller stars, polka dots, a burst type design, and checkerboards. The problems here were all my fault because this is actually a good plate.

My problems with the plates as of right now. The full image plates are actually smaller than the newer Bundle Monster or Konad, I could imagine that they are about as big as the first Bundle Monster. Then the smaller designs are actually really big compared to the "larger" images. I'm not going to complain about the smaller "larger" designs because my nail beds are very narrow and short, so they fit perfectly with the exception of my thumb it barely works. I also notice these designs have a lot of flowers, butterflies, and hearts.
Compared to Bundle Monster 206 (the only other plate I own)

These kits can be found at variously locations, I know CVS, Rite Aid, and Sally's Beauty Supply.Be aware the kit you get may be different from mine though. As you can see mine pick up at SE18 which means there are 17 before mine. I am not sure if  there are any above mine.
I know I want SE11 which is a Konad dupe with the Zebra, Lace, and Leopard. There is SE12 with Plaid and Dots. I also want SE02 with the interesting Konad french tip design and butterfly.

For people new to stamping.
Each set is engraved with a design and you apply nail polish into the grooves and take a scraper to remove the excess nail polish that is on the surface of the plate. Taking the stamper you push the rubber part over the image and take it and roll it over your nail. Practice makes perfect. Here is a friend of mine trying Konad for the first time.

Tips for people who are new to stamping.

  1. The thicker the polish the better. I have been using cream polishes although some shimmers work. My preferred choice right now is LA Colors Art Deco, they are the polishes with the striping brushes built into them.
  2. Make sure you take the blue film off of the front of the plate, you can leave the blue on the back of the plate if you want, it isn't going to hurt it to be there. If not you won't be able to scrape or put polish into the engravings. You will be able to feel the lines of the design.
  3. Make sure you are working on a surface that is protected. I suggest paper or paper towels. I used mine on my glass desk so it didn't really matter, clean up was a breeze. If you don't care about the surface more power to you. LOL
  4. Roll the stamper with the image over your nails, don't just lay it there. This makes it so the design gets on the nail completely. Just laying it there will only get the image on the round part of your nail unless you push the hardest you can but even then it won't get all of it.
  5. Make sure you work quickly or the polish will dry on the stamper and will not transfer onto your nails.
  6. Always clean all of your equipment. Make sure you have your nail polish remover on hand and something to clean with (cotton ball, cotton round, etc...) At first it will take a bit to clean up but you will get better.
  7. Practice makes perfect. Don't give up. If at first you don't get the desired look just keep trying because it does take some practice. I have been playing with mine since Tuesday and still have some problems. But I can tell you this, my phone and iPOD both have stamps all over them. (If you are under 18 I would ask your parents for permission before stamping on a phone, etc... you don't want them to get mad.)
  8. File down the stamper a tad because this will pick up the image just a little better than if it was smooth.
Nevermind the crappy cellphone.

Overall I recommend this kit to anybody who wants to try stamping or someone who can't achieve nail art by the brush. I love this type of stuff and I plan on purchasing the Bundle Monster and some from Born Pretty Store.

Here I am wearing Ulta's Lav-ish which is a greyish lavender color. Then over that I have SE18's Butterfly stamped in LA Colors Art Deco in Black. From SE21 I have the Dragonfly stamped in LA Colors Art Deco in Silver. I topped it with Seche Vite and went on with my day. I actually wore this until last night when I broke my middle finger nail, I didn't break it all off but there is little to nothing there. I will still stamp but getting those "small" designs on my fingers is going to be a little harder.

Funny story time... I have been thinking about getting Bundle Monster and Konad for some time but have never gotten around to it. I have been talking to my boyfriend about it lately, and when I said Konad he started laughing. Now every time we are around someone he says Konad, just so i have to go into a long discussion about nail art stamping.

Enjoy yourself

31 Day Challenge Day 27

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I actually do my own artwork but I think that would be cheating if I were to do my own artwork for today. I did Ed Hardy artwork inspired nails for today. I hate how it came out. I was going for the roses that Ed Hardy is so famous for.
I used Sally Girl Curfew and then I actually used a rub on tattoo for the design. But what really sucked is that you can barely see it here. The roses actually blended in with the background because it was almost the identical color.
I am sorry that it sucks so badly. Oh well what can I do?

32 Day Challenge Day 26

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I am nearing the end of this challenge. I know I did animal print earlier in this but I seriously love zebra print. This one is different because of the way I did it. I left the polish matte like it is. I don't really need it to last since this was only one day.

I used a really small brush and drew tiny "zebra" stripes with black acrylic paint. I used  China Glaze's Turned Up Turquoise. I did a blog post earlier this year you can find it here.

I hope you like this. I know I like it better than the actual animal print post that I did in the first place.

31 Day Challenge Day 25

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Today is inspired by fashion. I am not really into fashion too much but I know a little about it, I am not going to say I am good with it though. I saw a couple of people doing plaid nails and a tutorial on youtube with Burberry nails. I kind of went off of that.

I used OPI's A-Taupe The Space Needle. Then I added stripes of white and black acrylic paint. Finally I added striped of Forever Young by Essie.

Very simple but kind of cute. I might try this again when the challenge is done, I see it as being a hit.

31 Day Challenge Day 24

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
The movie that I based my mani off of today is Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, which I could have copped out and did it for yesterday and today because it is both a book and a movie.

Very different if I may say. There are a lot of vibrant colors in this movie because of the content of the movie. I used a neon orange and yellow along with a bright red.

Color Club Get Your Lem-On, OPI Atomic Orange, and Essie Forever Young.

That's really it for today. I don't really like how it turned out. A little messy if you ask me but I guess it just adds to the character of the movie.

31 Day Challenge Day 23

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I am such a nerd, today is inspired by a book. I have no creativity today. I went with Harry Potter. I am sure a lot of people have gone with Potter nails for today but I don't really care.
I kind of went off each of the four houses, if you haven't read or watched the movies you should. I actually forgot what nail polishes I used. I know that you need a red, gold, blue, yellow, green, silver, and black. It is really simple just make boxes on each of your nails.

Sorry for the lack of creativity, if you like it then we cool.

Enjoy yourself

31 Day Challenge Day 22

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
To add to what I did yesterday, my favorite song has been Look At Me Now by Chris Brown. Something about it, I have changed so much, I used to listen to rock only, now I listen to rap, pop, and anything in between, I still don't listen to country.

I didn't see anyone do this song so I decided that it would be okay if I did. It isn't the best design and for some reason I forgot to take a picture before I put a top coat on.

I used OPI Don't Mess With OPI, OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window, and Finger Paints Scenery Greenery. Of course my black and white acrylic paints.

31 Day Challenge Day 21

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Ten days to go!! I can't wait for it to be over, is that bad? I think I am going to take a nail art (challenge) break until Christmas, I probably will do two weeks then. Of course I will finish this one but my posts after this challenge will be more sparatic then they have been lately. Then after that it will be New Years for a day or two and then Valentines Day and my birthday which is 3 days later. Am I missing anything?

Today I just did something easy. It is supposed to be inspired by color. I didn't get this one very well, so I just went with green. Green and yellow have taken the stage in my life for some reason. I kind of sponged three different green polishes.

I used OPI Don't Mess With OPI, Finger Paints Scenery Greenery, and OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down The Windows.

Enjoy yourself
XOXO
