Small Haul

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Yesterday I went to Sally's deciding to break some cash, bad idea haha! I had my eye on a few  things and some where impulse buys.

The big thing that I wanted was Seche Vite, now I know there is a controversy over Seche and I am fully aware of the side effects.  But that SHINE! It is better than anything I have ever seen before, INM, Poshe, anything.

I bought The Seche Support Awareness set which has the Seche Vite, China Glaze Go Go Pink which I actually adore, and a little angle key ring. I love buying things for breast cancer awareness because they are so cute and girly. This set cost me $8.99 which I have seen Seche go for that much alone so getting the other two free is a good deal.

Next is Orly's Rock Solid, now I wouldn't have bought this if I would have remembered the price tag. I don't like the price of them. I think it was around $7 or $8. I am glad I did though because it is like China Glazes Fairy Dust on crack.

Then I needed another base coat because mine is almost out and starting to get a little thicker than I had hoped it would be.  The one I normally get is Beauty Secrets Base Coat. I like their new packaging, the old packaging pissed me off a lot.

Lastly I picked up some glitter because of my Halloween costume. It is the Sally's Girl Glitter in Gleaming Green, which is a neon green colored glitter that shines to be yellow and green. You will see how I used it in my post when I post it.

With a recent decision I may be getting my babysitting job back which would make me employed full time and that would mean that I would bring in a full income which means that I would be more inclined to make more hauls and keep up with nail collections. Like I would love to do. I need to get a better storage system for my polishes because as of right now I am in two plastic shoe boxes and an overflow into a basket which is filled to the top and all of my polishes are set sideways in this basket.  I am thinking the Melmer from Michael's or even looking around at some different stores like Bed Bath and Beyond. Maybe you can tell me some storage ideas.

Enjoy yourself

30 Untrieds Day 6

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I woke up just a little later than normal I am usually up at 5am, polishing my nails by 6am and taking pictures at 6:30am, for now it is going to start getting darker and darker as winter approaches. I edit the pictures and write the post and am usually done by 8am. It is already 9:20am. I'm late, I'm late for a very important date. -Alice and Wonderland. I love that movie. We will see how well this situation works out, my sleeping schedule can get very messy at times. Sometimes I will sleep at day and other times I will sleep at night. Either way I will stick to posting one or more things a day.

Today I decided that it would a two polish type of day. These two surprisingly go well together, I thought the lighter blue wouldn't show up over the darker blue. It did just fine and I am kind of glad I did these two because the sheer blue shatter/crackle/whatever showed the darker blue through it before it was cracked, I can only imagine if I would have put it over a different color. I will test this though, soon.

Sinful Colors Gorgeous is a beauty frosty blue and green duochrome. Since it is a frost you can see the streaks from the brush in the polish, hence why I put the crackle over it. I don't really like frosts as much.  It also bubbles a little, I only saw one bubble on my right thumb and my left ring finger.  It takes about 2 to 3 coats for the polish to be opaque. Sinful Colors can be found at Walgreens, Target, Fred Meyers, and online at SinfulColors.com. I know they are really popular at Walgreens where you can find them for $1.99 and sometimes on sale for $.99, they actually do those sales quiet frequently.

LA Splash Crackle'd in Psych'd is a baby blue crackle with a cream finish. Very similar to Crushed Candy by China Glaze and For Audrey by China Glaze. This crackle is surprisingly thinner than the other crackles that I have dealt with China Glaze and OPI. I don't see this drying out anytime soon, my first OPI Black Shatter did within the first 5 months of having it. I found this at my Fred Meyer for $4.99 but they might mark them down like they do with most things that don't sell too well. I got another one too it is Broken Heart'd which is a neon pink.  *Note I have tried this Crackle before I just thought I would spruce the manicure up a little.

I suggest a thicker top coat for crackles, the thickness will go into the cracks and make for an even manicure. I don't like using a thinner top coat for crackles because I can feel the ridges that they give through the top coat. What I do is I use Beauty Secrets Hardener High Gloss Top Coat which dries super slow, then I will apply a thin coat of INM Northern Lights (non shaken) over the other top coat, this will allow the top coat under to dry faster. It is a long process but the outcome is amazing. Shiny too.

I won some 2012 Crackles so I will be getting those in the mail soon. Once I do I will do a post about them. The colors are supposed to be completely random so I won't know what colors I will be getting until they are here.

Can you please vote for me here http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=253724134650362&set=a.253722937983815.62546.249198138436295&type=1&theater  I entered a contest using this photo.

30 Untrieds Day 2

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
Day two of my untrieds, yipe. Before I talk about the polish I am wearing today, I want to share with you that the polish from yesterday smelt just as good taking it off as it did when I was taking it off. It gave the remover the scent of lemon dish soap.
Today I am wearing yet another color that I just recently picked up. Now I am going to tell you something about this polish, I don't like it. It is a jelly, but is even worse than a jelly more of a tint you could say. I can see through it really well so I tried layering another coat on it and waited for them to dry and added another, so there is 3 coats, yes 3. I had to add 2 more just to get it as you see in the photo. In real life I can still see through the polish and now it is more of a jelly. It also makes the nail line very visible through the polish but it gives it a black line when I know my nails are clean. I'm not whining I mean after all it was only a dollar.
Now for layering this polish this would be great or even frankening! I think I may Jelly Sandwich out of this polish.
Wet N' Wild's FuchsiaRama was the choice for the day because it is a brighter color in the bottle, however on the nails this could pass as a fall color. It is a jelly dark red/ pink toned purple so a magenta or fuchsia. This is apart of their Fast Dry collection and is named after Futurama which is one of my favorite shows. This is a fast drying nail polish but once it is dry it bubbles. I absolutely hate bubbles.
I guess you can't beat the price for normally $1.99 and on sale for $.99. I got mine for $.99 on sale at Walgreens, The sale is still going on and will be for a little longer.
Well that is it for today I am happy about this 30 Untrieds for September. If you would like to do it please feel free to do it too.
Enjoy yourself
XOXO

You're Plastic...Cold, shiny, hard plastic!!!

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I can't believe I have done this for my third time this week, SQUEEE that makes me super happy. Now lets see if I can do 30 Untireds in September. I absolutely love Pink Wednesday's!!!

Today I am wearing a pink base color with little blue and white acrylic flowers painted on my nails, along with some dots. This style of manicure is and will continue to be a favorite on my fingers.

What I Did
I painted my nails with a medium sort of muted pink color with a dotting tool (tooth pick in my case) I added 5 little dots to represent flowers, I repeated this a couple of times on each nail. In the middle of each flower I mixed blue and white and got a baby blue color and went back in and dotted these a little closer to the centers. Next I applied one single dot of white in the middles of all of the flowers. On the middle of the nail there was just too much pink showing through so I put some dots getting smaller and bigger.

What I Used
One coat of Beauty Secrets Base Coat
Two coats of Finger Paints Rose Patina
Blue and white Acrylic
One coat of INM Out the Door

Enjoy yourself

Jelly Sandwich Thing

Hello Lacquered Lovelies,
I have seen many do what is called a Jelly Sandwich, this is where you take a very sheer nail polish and apply a coat of it and then add a coat of glitter and then put the sheer coat over it again. The glitter is actually sandwiched in the center of the sheer polish. I have seen this done several times with different colors and different polishes.

I decided to give it a go. It came out really well. I like that you can barely see the true colors of the glitter it is all tinted to this red color.

What I did
I applied three coats of my sheer "jelly" polish to my fingers, Then I added one coat of the glitter. Finally I used one more coat of the "jelly" polish to my nails.

What I used
Beauty Secrets Base Coat
OPI Big Hair...Big Nails
Wet N' Wild Party Of Five Glitters
INM Northern Lights (not shaken)

Enjoy yourself

Nail of the Day Shocking Voltage.

Another borrowed nail polish from my sister since I am here. I don't really have as many resources here as I do there so I decided to do something simple and something you have all seen before. I love the shine to this my sisters top coat is Beauty Secrets Fast Dry, I may need to get the small version.

What I did
I started with a base of the lighter pink and then once it dried I went in and added the darker"pink" to the tips. I didn't add any stripes this time like I thought I would. I am liking this duo

What I used
-One coat of Beauty Secrets Top coat because she doesn't have a base coat
-Two coats of China Glaze's Pink Voltage
-One coat of China Glaze Purple Panic
-Two coats of Beauty Secrets Top Coat

Yay for my second Pink Wednesday.

Enjoy yourself

Nail Of the Day Sparked

So this week is my week at my sister's house ( I watch her youngest) so I won't be on here as much but I can tell you that I have written things in advance and they will post themselves, I will be checking too. Wednesday I will be doing a Pink Wednesday post but I won't have access to my own polish so it will be "borrowed" aka my sisters. I will try to post NOTD's this week as well but like I said I can't guarantee anything. I am also looking for a job, I need money for this nail addiction.
What I did
For today I have my own polish on (lol). I put regular tips on all of my fingers except my ring finger. Then on the fingers with the tips I applied a thin black line. On my ring finger I put a "graident" of purple and blue sparkles on top of the purple.

What I used.
-One coat of Beauty Secrets Base Coat
-2 Coats of Finger Paints Lavender Highlight (review to come)
-LA Colors Art Deco in Black.
-Sinful Colors in Frenzy
-2 Coats of INM Northern Lights (Not Shaken up)

Well that is it for today. Thanks for reading.

Enjoy yourself
XOXO

How I care for my nails/hands.

I am fairly new to all this stuff, Well a year now but I started really getting into it around November 2010. I started caring for my nails in April maybe even a little later.

Moisturizing
First off I must say moisture is number one in caring for you hands and nails.
Lotion is my best friend and should be yours too. I prefer lotion with SPF in it because not only does it protect your hands from the sun but SPF is great for keeping the skin looking younger. Plus some SPF lotions make your hands look a lot healthier in photographs.
E-Cream is a great way to get all the vitamin E you need. I will use this when I haven't used lotion all day or the cold has made my hands rough or dehydrated.
Solarbalm from Creative Nail Design is another great product. However I don't like how the texture it feels against my hands. I try to use this as less as possible because it is sadly discontinued.
Sometimes I will put lotion on and then I will put gloves on to keep the moisture in. I also suggest putting lotion on after washing hands, hand sanitizer even though I recommend not using those as much, showers, and dishes.

Cuticle care
I use Gel Cuticle Remover from Sally Hansen. I apply this to each of my nails then I will go back in and push all of my cuticles up. After those two steps are done I will go back and clean my nails with a nail brush but an old tooth brush will work too. You can get Gel Cuticle Remover for around $5
If I have any scraggly cuticle skin left I will remove it with a metal cuticle trimmer but they aren't cutters. If their is still any left I will go back in with the gel.
J.R. Watkins Lavender Hand and Cuticle Salve is my favorite so far. I will put this on if I don't want to deal with any of the other steps. This stuff is amazing and I really need to look into the full size. Maybe a different sent like Lemon. My sister gave me this so I am not sure of the price but I know it can be found at Kroger, Fred Meyer, and I want to say ShopKo.

Extras
When cutting my nails I make sure my nails are weaker than normal by showering or soaking your hands in water infused with oils.
I never I repeat I never file my nails back and forth up and down and up. File in ONE direction only. Otherwise you run the chance of breakage or something else.
Once a week I love to buff my nails. After this my nails are naturally shiny but not only are they shiny they make nail polish stick a lot longer. Also if you see some peeling or what appears to be cuticle don't rip or mess with it just buff your nails and it should be fine.
I use a miracle growth serum that makes your nails grow within 5 to 7 days. I don't believe the hype but I use it because it moisturizes my nails perfectly.
I will use a pair of tweezers to kind of cut extra skin that doesn't need to be around my nails.
A moisturizing base coat is a must. Then I top with a strengthening top coat.
I make sure that my nails are clean whenever putting a new manicure or anything for that matter on my nail. I use a pointed q-tip to clean my cuticle area.

I am very careful on my nails and I would even suggest taking biotin or hair and nails pills. Those might help with strengthening your nails. I thought I would tell you what I do to my nails to make them look semi good. I used to be an avid nail biter so I used to have the worst nails in the world.
These are just tips tell me if you try anything I have listed or what you do.

I entered a contest it would mean the world to me if you could go check it out and LIKE my photo. You have to like NailNation on Facebook and then LIKE/Comment my photo. Thank you very much <3 It means the world to me.

Nail of the Day Dainty Dots.

Today was just one of those days that I just really didn't want to do anything with my nails. I am not sure why this happened. I guess I am just in a slump.
I really wanted to get out of this slump so I painted my nails with Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow. Yes YELLOW. Why? Well it just so happens that yellow is one of my favorite colors and it simply makes me happy.

I just recently reviewed this polish which I will post below because I have yet to find out how to hyperlink? I believe that is the word I am look for. Shrugs...

What I did.
With a tooth pick I took an opposing color in this case purple and I dotted little dots on the bottom corner away from the thumb and on the thumb facing the opposing way.

What I used
Beauty Secrets Base Coat
4 Yes 4... Coats of Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow. Could have used one more coat.
Ulta Professions Nail Polish in Downtown Diva (Me lol just kidding)
INM Northern Lights (not shaken up)

Like my new watermark? Thanks for reading <3

On Wednesday's We Wear Pink

Jumping on the train of Pink Wednesday!!! This will make me blog more often at least on Wednesdays :P I even signed the page :D

For this Pink Wednesday I decided to do little dots of different pinks. I used the ends of each brush to create the dots. With OPI this is really hard ha ha, so I just used a corner of the OPI Brush. I didn't go all the way up my nail. I think the exposed nail looks just fine. I couldn't imagine going all the way with this.

I used
Beauty Secrets Base Coat
OPI's Argenteeny Pinkini
Finger Paints in Rose Patina
Orly Pink Whisper
Sally Girl in Curfew
Sally Girl in Way Cool
INM Northern Lights Non-shaken

The different colors of pinks really makes my nails stand out. I love the neons and the muted pinks so this is the best of both worlds.

I am really glad that I have something to look forward to every Wednesday, maybe I will write a schedule of things to do each day. Swatch/Review Saturday, Makeover Mondays, Testing Tuesday, Pink Wednesday, Hahahah I have no idea where this is going. Maybe you can help me.

Enjoy yourself

Nail Wheels

These nail wheels can be bought at Sally Beauty Supply for around $5-$6 depending if you have the club card or not. The brand is Beauty Secrets which you will find a lot of products by that brand there.
In some cases people use these for nail art, I however probably could never do such a thing because they are so tiny. I use them to show what colors of polish I actually have. I have 7 wheels filled. Below you can see the purple one that I have.

Below you can see the blue one that I have.

Below you can see the green one that I have.

Below you can see the yellow/orange one that I have.

Below you can see the pink one that I have.

Below you can see the red/black/white/grey/silver one that I have.

Below you can see the glitter/shatter/semi holo one that I have.

As you can see they make a great way to swatch all of the colors that you have. I knew that once I got these I would be in heaven. As you can see in my last post I have two bins that sometimes you can't see the color of polish in. So when I want to paint my nails I will just pick up the wheels and find out what color it is and then go in and get that specific color.

Enjoy yourself
